You need a computer with Claude Code installed, API access to Claude (Anthropic), and accounts on the publishing platforms you want to use (Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, and/or Barnes & Noble). Basic familiarity with command-line tools is helpful but not required - our documentation walks you through everything.

Instawritr supports automated publishing to four major platforms: Apple Books (via Apple Books for Authors), Google Play Books, Kobo Writing Life, and Barnes & Noble Press. You can choose to publish to all four or select specific platforms.

A complete 20,000+ word novel can be generated in about 15-30 minutes depending on your API rate limits. The full pipeline from synopsis to published ebook typically takes 1-2 hours including cover generation and platform uploads.

Instawritr supports 7 genres out of the box: Romance, Mystery/Thriller, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, Literary Fiction, and Young Adult. The prompts can be customized to support additional genres or subgenres.

No coding experience is required. Instawritr is designed to be used through Claude Code with natural language commands. Our documentation provides step-by-step instructions for setup and daily use. However, if you want to customize the automation, basic familiarity with JSON and command-line tools is helpful.

Instawritr requires an Anthropic API key for Claude (the main AI for writing and orchestration). For cover generation, it integrates with various AI image services - the specific requirements are detailed in the documentation.
